It's Friday and I'm filling in the blanks...

But it's Saturday and you're reading the blanks.

OOH, TIMEWARP. As usual, thanks be to Lauren!

1.   The best deal I've ever gotten is: oh...um, I don't know. I just realised this question is really hard. But suffice it to say that I LOVE CHEAP CLOTHES AND BOOKS OKAY YEAH.

2.  If I were hosting a dinner party and could invite people from my fantasy guest list it would include: Wait, how many? God is always my number one choice because imagine asking questions of God? (Can I invite non-existent people? How about people who may or may not exist?) I think I'd fill it with people from the past and from the now who have lived such rich, beautiful, inspiring lives...yep, that'll keep the conversation flowing. Like Irena Sendler and my homeboy Wilfred Owen and Wilm Hosenfeld and Irène Némirovsky maybe some non-war related people too...ooh, JFK and Bobby Kennedy! And Adele could sing us all into sweet sweet bliss. And Paolo Nutini too so he can finally wake up and realise I'm his future wife. Oh my god, and Emily Bronte!

And I'm ruling out fictional characters because that's a whole 'nother kettle of cod.

3.  Something that inspires me is: everything, the beautiful big wide world with its colours and its shapes and its forms and that fact that we're all made of stardust.

4.  If I could only choose to eat one flavor of food for the rest of eternity (sweet, salty, spicy, bitter....) I would have to go with: Salty. Of course. Mmmmmm, sweet, sweet salt.

I'd miss chocolate really badly though.

5.  I dream about: I have the WEIRDEST dreams. They're usually pretty long and epic. I love dreaming. A lot of my story ideas are rooted in dreams, although I have to be pretty ruthless and cut out the bizarre bits...like I have to replace "troll attack" with "train crash" or the storyworld would have TOO many focal points.
That kind of thing.
Yeah.

6.  My weekend will be spent:LONG WEEKEND. Working all day tomorrow (Saturday), then going out for a curry, then sleep over at my house with a cheap old bottles of wine :) and then a driving lesson and a rehearsal for Show Choir on Sunday...and I also have about 2k words of my History coursework to write and a History essay I should have written a week ago and a French mock oral to prepare for (it's on Thursday) and er...I think I might explode this weekend. Just a theory.

7.  If I could only  watch one movie or TV show for the rest of my life, it would be:    WHY WOULD ANYONE FORCE ANYONE TO MAKE THAT DECISION?

I'd choose a TV show not a film. Because TV shows are longer. Maybe Doctor Who because there are a SHEDLOAD of episodes if you include Classic Who. And because, y'know, I have a TARDIS t-shirt. It would be a waste to not be able to use it.

F is for Fridays with Friends.

Hi guys, happy Friday!

I don't really get Friday night feeling any more, now that I work on Saturdays, but I've had such a lovely evening that it doesn't matter...I know it's a symbol of corporate greed and American domination, but boy do I love sitting in Starbucks until closing. And I don't drink coffee.

My cafe-bar-jazz show-book club will be way better, anyway :)
D'ailleurs, it's Friday and that means blanks!
Well not every Friday. Yaknow. Read on, good sir! And many thanks to Lauren over at Little Things!

1. The phrase or punctuation I overuse most is: "Not gonna lie but-"

2. Today I am thankful for: friends! *ladidah sounds like a gay.* Also the smell of omelettes.

Oh, there's no question three, that's clearly not important.

4. A quirky thing about me is: quirky? Um...I guess I have lots of little quirks, cous cous addiction? Oh, I don't know.

5. This weekend I am going to: Spend my day working, then go out for a curry with my famo, then for a carvery with my friends, yeahh :)

6. Something that worries me is: agh, everything! At the moment, not being able to keep up with school I guess...I have got an INCREDIBLE amount of stuff to do at the mo, it's unbelievable. And yet here I am, blogging. Sigh.

7. On my night stand you would find: Many things. *runs upstairs to check* Two empty cans of coke, an empty glass of squash, 4 bottles of nail varnish, pens of various types, stack of books a mile high, diary, lamp that doesn't work, a couple of trolls and...I think that's about it? Oh, and a bag of revels I will never ever eat.

Revels are gross, see you soon, bye!

Blankety blank.

Thanks Lauren!
Yes, I'm filling in the blanks today. I feel the need, what can I say. The theme is guilty pleasures...and I have many :)

1.   The TV show/website that I watch/read that I would be embarrassed to tell anyone about is: oh God, you don't even know how much embarrassing crap I watch. I still read dodgy teen fiction when I got the opportunity. I love Rachel Caine's Morganville Vampire books, for example. Not that I've had time to keep up to date with them, which is sad. I watch the worst TV in the world: Outcasts, Primeval, Doctor Who, even the odd episode of Star Trek. And I read webcomics online. Oh, and I'm a Harry Potter addict until the end of time, but really, who isn't?

I do nerdy things but I'm not ashamed of them :)

2.  An item of clothing that is worn and torn but that I love far to much to throw away is: SO MUCH. I've got lots of old stuff I can't bear to throw away, even though its wrecked, too small and out of fashion. Hoarder fo'life.

3.  My grocery store impulse buy is:Well, I don't do the weekly shop but I supply myself lunch, and I can never, NEVER say no to lemon and coriander cous cous. Bit of boiling water, whack it in a mug and stir it, and you're sorted.

Cous cous I love you, you are my life.

4.  Something I do at work to pass time that I wouldn't want my co-workers to know about: PORN. No, I'm kidding. Obviously at college there's nothing I wouldn't want my friends to know about...teachers, on the other hand...let's just say my shocking Tetris habit is proving destructive to my academic career and leave it at that.

5.  One thing in my life that I could give up, but never will is: the internet...it saps my time, is a tool for procrastination and probably the reason I'm not holding a Cambridge offer right now, but I literally cannot give it up. It's like giving up a duvet or something. Bad times.

6.  A little indulgence that I have is: Diet Coke. One can every evening, chilled in the fridge...the little "crrksh" as it opens is the best noise ever.

7.  The junk drawer/area in my house is: My bedroom is one, big cupboard. I exaggerate not. It's like, bed...stuff. There's no floor. Because I don't spend any time in my room anyway. In fact, here's a picture from last summer (it's worse now, believe it or no.)

ON ANOTHER NOTE:
Today I had a bottle of pepsi from the vend at school,
Then we went to Nandos and abused the refillable drinks system.
Then I went to the pub with my fam and had another pint of coke.

So that's 7.05585196 pints of (albeit diet) coke today.
Yes, I am just that healthy.

This has been a post. I know blanky things are a bit of a cop out, but hey-ho.

Quite Decidedly

NOT revising.

Why? I need to. I just don't care.

ANYHOO, as you all know by now, it's Fill In The Blank Friday

And sadly, I have posted nada since last Friday. Gutting, I know. Anyway.

1. One fashion trend I really regret is:
The ponchoes were pretty disastrous, weren't they? It didn't help that they came along about the same time as my fat chubster stage, so I sort of looked like a knitted marshmellow with legs. Imagine that if you will.

2. The one thing that always completes any outfit is
the right handbag, or a necklace, or even both. I am addicted to purchasing both. That and ebay junk is the reason I am SKINT.

3. I would describe my personal style as rolled out of bed, picked whatever was easiest and managed to look effortlessly awesome? That's the aim, anyway. The other day, my friend said I have "an air of cool about me whatever I wear." Honestly? Best compliment I've ever recieved. Seriously, though, I have a two style rules that I've stuck to since I was picking my own clothes:

The Tight Baggy Rule
Tight on top, baggy on the bottom. Baggy on the top, tight on the bottom. Stick to that and you cannot go wrong. Except school dress code, in which you are allowed to wear tight-tight because you go to an all-girls grammar school, don't wear makeup and haven't brushed your hair. Ergo, you couldn't look slutty if you tried.

The Try-Hard Rule
Wear something exceptional everyday. By which I mean, a skirt instead of jeans, an accessory, just something that shows you've spent more than thirty seconds on an outfit. Even if you haven't.

4. My fashion muse is the Drama Kids at college. They're pretentious, "boho" idiots but they dress well, if they took themselves less seriously. So I try to dress like them with a pinch of salt added :)

5. If I could own one designer piece of clothing it would be? I honestly have no idea. I don't know anything designer-y. Maybe some really epic shoes. Louboutin? Yeah, some plain black Louboutins with a red sole.

6. I would love to raid the wardrobe of
my sister. Her clothes are fabulous, but she's a size 6 or something so nothing fits. But if she'd just grow out a bit, we'd have a combined wardrobe to be proud of.

7. Today I am wearing
a green dress donated by one of my mom's friends that is actually surprisingly nice, some grey tights I borrowed off my sister (at least our legs are the same length) and a black cardigan that I actually own. I'm a style scavenger, by the way. Next to nothing I own is actually first-hand, not-bought-in-the-sale bona fide clothing. But I'm fussy about what I scavenge.

Well that's that. Till next Friday I suppose!

Thank you Freya.

Fun fact: in Iran, Friday is the weekend and the week starts on Saturday.
In case you were wondering.

(Also, the title spring from my first ever mythological obsession, the Norse goddess Freya, which is where the name Friday comes from, in a roundabout way.)

*ahem* 'scuse boobs.

So yeah, vague attempt to make the day itself sound interesting aside, HAPPY WEEKEND! You have no idea how much I need this weekend for revision. Exams start next week, I can quite clearly say to you this: I. Am. Wetting. Myself.

(And just a little secret, I'm going to predict here my grades. That way no-one will know if I get them way, way wrong.)

Computing - High B/Low A
French - AEnglish - A
History - Low A.
Critical Thinking - Anybody's guess :)

But we all know what I'm really here for...FILL. IN. THE. BLANK. FREITAG!

The very best thing about the summer is: realising you've spent the whole day in sheer unadulterated lazy bliss, not concentrating because the sun makes you dopey, laughing lots, big sunnies.
My first crush ever was: MD in reception (I was 4), we were going to get married. I can see why I was attracted to him then, but he got ugly as he grew up so I made the right decision :)

(me and my little sister at approx. that time)

This may sound really silly but: I'm still scared of swings in kids' playgrounds. I just never got over the fear when I was little.

swings photography Pictures, Images and Photos

I squeeze my toothpaste from: the top. I feel like a social outlaw for it, if that helps?
My absolute favorite "comfort food" is: chocolate, then toast, alternating. Repeat until the wounds have healed.
A random fact about me is that: I can recite all the reigning monarchs since Edward the Confessor...which is about 1040 AD? It's really boring to listen to though. Just a bunch of names.
The one piece of technology that truly makes my life better and I couldn't live without is: Laptop. No question. How did I ever do anything before it?

As usual, thanks to Lauren for her general awesomeness :)

And there we have it. Bis morgen, my lovelies.

Okay, soo...

The bulk of my pre-exam work is fin, therefore I've decided its okay to be blogging occasionally.

So I'll catch up on my friday fill-in-the-blanks from Lauren , shall I?

There's two weeks worth here, by the by.

1. One song that always takes me back to my youth is: S Club 7 - Bring it All Back. (This makes me feel young, but it's true. 1999. My ultimate holiday song :D)

2. My first concert ever was: Hear'say. God, this is getting embarrassing.

3. If I could create my dream music festival I'd want these bands to be there (I'll pick 5 so this doesn't get boring): Florence + The Machine because she's unbelievable, Lady Gaga because everyone can boogy to her, Busted because they were sick, Owl City because I love him and I want to hire him for my personal lullaby-maker, and er...Look Out Henry. Hell, they need the exposure if nothing else.

4. The best make-out/"boot knocking" song ever is: Hmm. Shall we say the music of silence? Yes.

5. The best concert I've ever been to was: I will have to say Hear'say because that's the only one I've ever seen. Ha. Except the Big Dorridge Gig which doesn't count because it was free.

6. A memorable musical moment for me was: This one time, the whole class started singing Greenday- Wake me up when September ends and I just went whoaaaa.

7. The song on my iPod that's getting the most play these days is: Boys Like Girls - Two is Better Than One and Daughtry - September. Idk why. I'm writing sad stories, that's why.

1. My absolute favorite movie of all time is: Moulin Rouge. I could watch it till the cows come home.

2. My favorite movie as a child was: Beauty and the Beast, because she was me and I loved it.

3. The best movie quote ever is from: I don't knoow. I don't remember any of the deep and profound ones.

4. My favorite actress is: That's too hard to think about.

Gosh I'm selling out alot.

5. The movie I could watch over and over: Grease. I know it's cliche but it is JUST FAB. Reminds me of good times, has songs...etc.

6. My favorite movie genre is explosions, very little plot, someone dies at the end, I cry. Popcorn?

7. A movie I'd like to watch this weekend is: I'm watching One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest right now. So that, I suppose.
